USA Tech Deals is built so that remote professionals can read every guide and use every free tool whatever device or assistive technology they use. Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.
What is in place
- Every page works with a keyboard alone: links, menus, forms, the tools and the newsletter pop-up can be reached with Tab and operated with Enter, Space and the arrow keys, with a visible focus ring.
- Text and background colours are checked for contrast against the WCAG AA ratio, including small print and links on coloured panels.
- Every image has alt text that describes it, or is marked decorative; infographics also carry their key points as text on the page.
- Headings follow a logical order, pages have landmarks (header, navigation, main, footer) and forms have visible labels and error messages that screen readers announce.
- Buttons and links are at least 44 by 44 pixels on touch screens, text can be enlarged to 200 percent, and nothing moves or plays automatically. Videos load only when you choose to play them.
- The free tools show their results as text, not only as colour or a graphic, and each one explains what the result means.
How we test
Every page is checked with the axe-core accessibility engine at desktop and phone sizes before changes go live, and the tools and forms are tested by hand with a keyboard. The checks are repeated after each site-wide change.
Known limits
- Our Web Stories are produced with Google’s Web Stories format, which fixes the page zoom level and uses its own page structure. The same content is available in the matching article.
- The YouTube player and PDF downloads are third-party formats with their own accessibility features.
