Overall this product works well. The only downside is that the automatic clone feature only works for HDD. It does not work with SDD.

I have a 10-year-old Fujitsu AH-532 Windows 7 laptop that originally came with a 500 GB 5400 RPM hard drive. I maxed out the RAM to 16 gig and ran it like that for several years but then decided to try a new SSD in it.I ended up going with the Samsung 1 TB and use this device to successfully clone my original HDD to the new SSD.If you get a Samsung SSD don’t make the mistake of trying their Samsung magician data migration software! Buggy, plus crashes and errors! This docking station/offline cloner worked perfect! It took a little over 2 hours to clone the 500 gigs to the new 1TB SSD.When I install the new SSD drive in my laptop it booted up install some new drivers and asked me to reboot.I was shocked and amazed that from the time I hit the power button until the time all the icons are on my desktop and it’s ready to roll is 15 seconds or less! This made my old machine better than when it was new!I was burning music videos to DVDs for a friend with my old hard drive and it took quite a while to process the data, author and burn but with the new SSD it has significantly decreased my time from authoring to burning to finish!I highly recommend this device! The only thing is other people have said I wish it had a better display other than just some flashing lights but it does the job!You may have to use some third party hard drive partitioning software to extend the partitions to make full use of a terabyte drive when only cloning 500 gigs. There’s a lot of free ones out there. This little device is definitely worth it!Of course now some of my friends with desktops and larger drives want to borrow it to clone over there mechanical drives to SSDs and move around data. This thing is just so handy for lots of purposes.I just like the fact that it cloned over the drive perfectly operating system every program I had, nothing to reinstall or register!

I’ve bought two of these in the last year, primarily to be simple docking stations for spare drives and they’re great, no issues. I haven’t used the duplication feature so I can’t speak to it.I made the mistake of trying to update the firmware with a version I found on the Internet and ended up ‘breaking’ it – only the rear drive slot was working. I contacted support and they provided the correct firmware and I was able to update and fix the issue. I was pleasantly surprised how quick and easy it was to get this resolved. Tech support can be hit-or-miss (I work in IT); in this case it was excellent.

I got this item off Amazon, then a couple refurbed 12TB drives off eBay, and plugged it all into my Synology USB port, and it works like a charm. I’m using them to offload/backup data from the Synology. I have not tested the built in auto duplicate/backup function the machine has built into it. But as a basic dock it works well and so far no issues.

Works great but can not clone HD to SSD, only HHD to HHD or SSD to SSD.

i got this because my years old sdd was beginning to fail. the last time i had to replace my hard drive, years ago with the sdd that was failing, i reinstalled everything which took almost an entire day to reinstall everything and get it set back up. the idea of being able to do it quicker and easier was well worth $30 to try. and it worked as advertised…with a slight learning curve.first, the videos i watched all said directly cloning the hard drive would create an exact clone, meaning the newer, larger sdd i bought would only show the same size as the sdd i was cloning. so i was prepared for that and used free software called AOMEI Partition Assistant to be able to use the entire drive. you CAN use windows disk management to increase the size of the c drive partition. the problem i had was there was a recovery partition between 2 unallocated spaces and disk management would only let me increase the size by the first space. i didnt want to delete the recovery partition and AOMEI allows you to move the recovery partition to the end so i could access both unallocated spaces. it was a very small hassle, nothing that would change my mind that buying this was well worth it.the 2nd issue was more frustrating and isnt a problem with the unit, though i initially thought it was. people who have experience cloning c drives may already know this, but this was my first time and i didnt. i took my old ssd out of my desktop and directly cloned it with this unit. it seemed to be pretty fast. i started it, took a shower and by the time i was done, so was the new sdd. i put it in my desktop, turned the power on…and then got a message that my desktop didnt find a boot disc. after checking connections and getting the same message, i thought maybe the cloning hadnt worked. so i reformatted and tried again…only to get the same result. at that point i decided to try and use the AEOMI software on my laptop to try and clone the sdd using the unit plugged into the laptop. and while searching for the best way to do that, one of the several results i read had instructions to go into the bios and set the boot order to the new disc. so i did that and voila, it booted up perfectly. as i said, many people might already know that, but as this was my first time doing this, i didnt. and i didnt see it mentioned in the instructions or any of the video reviews i watched. so if youre brand new to this, like me, remember to go into BIOS and set the boot order to the new disc.

I bought this docking station back in Feb 2018 and never used it. It’s now July 2024 and my 15 year old TiVo DVR’s hard drive is failing. I needed to clone it ASAP.I first tried the typical TiVo cloning software that is available online. It didn’t work.So I pulled Wavlink drive docking station out of storage and set it up. No PC was needed. I simply installed my source and target drive in to the docking station, then pressed the cloning button. Several hours later I had a perfect clone that is now running well in my TiVo box.Disaster averted. 🙂

I originally bought this because my PC kept corrupting drives and after reinstalling the OS I really didn’t feel like losing more data, so I wanted an external solution for backups. I got this along with 2 4TB HDDs for dirt cheap, and a Lenovo M600 I already had to construct a makeshift NAS. Essentially I have one of these with the 2 HDDs in it, and the Lenovo M600 connected to actually run the NAS.I installed ubuntu server, set the drives in RAID 1 (mirroring each other), and set up a samba share (along with a little bit of other software, but a google search for “how to build a home NAS” will get you all the info you need). It’s been going a year and a half strong now and it’s been very reliable. I keep everything online for months at a time without pauses and it’s worked flawlessly so far, albeit the drives can get a little warm, so I keep them in an area with good air flow. If you want to keep this in a closet, investing in a PC fan to run over the drives would probably be a good idea to save yourself some data loss.

Had a defective/failing HDD that no longer was read by Windows, used this to clone it into another drive and then used that to recover all my lost files. Life saver!
