I bought this soundbar for my 40 something inch Vizio TV that I use in my living room. This TV in particular seems to have speakers only on the back of the TV which means even with the TV sound turned all the way up the sound quality was terrible and I could barely hear a thing! It sounded like my TV was in a box! It was absolutely neccessary for me to purchase a soundbar.I wanted a nice middle of the road soundbar that would give me a good listening experience but that wasn’t some big investment and I did a bit of research on them before ultimately deciding just to give this one a try. It came quickly and was packed very well. It was actually quite a bit of work to get it out of its manufacturing package.I was able to mount it below my TV that is on a rolling TV stand and place the subwoofer in the back of the room on the floor in a stationary place. The soundbar is the perfect size for my 40 something inch tv and has a great sleek look. It seems to be made very well and is comparable to any other soundbar I’ve ever seen in person. The subwoofer is also not too big or too small and it’s not very noticeable at all sitting on the floor in the back of my room. It’s very reasonably sized and blends in well. The only thing I don’t like about the subwoofer is that the power cord plugs into the front of the subwoofer which looks pretty dumb. The remote it comes with works well. The soundbar is easy to figure out and use and the sound quality so far has been great. It really changes my whole experience when watching my TV. It makes me feel like I’m in a movie theatre.Being that this soundbar was very reasonably priced, is of great quality and has great sound I am 100% happy with my choice to purchase this specific soundbar and I think anyone else would be as well.

Have this hooked up via HDMI for watching movies in a fairly small room (15’x25’). Instructions are basic but fine, and thr set does include brackets for hanging the surround speakers if you wish. I simply set mine on a shelf. Very pleased that the subwoofer is wireless, and I’ve never had any issue with it not connecting or losing signal in the weeks I’ve had it.What I really like is that it does a great job of emphasizing dialogue. My parents watched a movie with me and commented on how well they could understand The Fall Guy, and both of them are in their 80s with hearing aids, so that’s true praise. I like that the sound bar volume operates using the TV remote, too.Sound quality is very decent. You will not confuse this for a Sonos or other high dollar surround system, but the improvement over standard TV speakers is still enormous, and at 1/3 the price of just a Sonos sound bar, it’s a great deal. All that said, there are some factors I don’t particularly like. The remote is not blatantly obvious how to use, and it does not provide much information for the various settings when you adjust them. It’s entirely a guess whether “+” means you are increasing the setting or if there are only two settings and you’ve selected the higher one. For sure you can tell when you select different sound type settings – essentially preset graphic equalizers – but modifying things beyond that is poorly defined. The other issue with the remote is that it’s not lit, so guessing what button is what in a dark room is difficult. Not a deal breaker, just could be better. Finally, I’m not sure who all these reviewers are who claimed it has “booming” bass but it does NOT. Who can blame it? It’s working with a tiny 4.5” speaker! But for the size it does do a good job of producing SOME bass, which is more than almost any soundbar can claim. It will not shake your walls. It will not make you feel the dinosaur’s footsteps or jump when a bomb hits, but it’s a good deal better than no subwoofer, and again it’s really good for the price point. So do like it? Definitely.Would I buy it again? Definitely.Would I recommend it? Yes, IF you are looking for big improvement over the TV speakers but are not concerned about making the room resonate, or if your budget simply doesn’t allow for a high dollar system. However, if deep and strong bass is truly key for you, you’re going to have to shell out more money for a bigger sub.

I have to say, after doing A LOT of research and going back and fourth on some good options, I am so glad I went with this soundbar and sub. I know that this model is a little older, and that actually helped me to pick it out.I am using optical and the coolest thing is that my TV remote can be programmed to the soundbar! I can control the volume just as I would using HDMI ARC. Press and hold the ok button at the same time as the volume up button, point your TV remote at the soundbar and press volume up. Do the same thing for volume down, and mute. A very pleasant surprise. The sound on the bar is really good. I can hear everything so clear and you have 4 EQ options to choose from. You are able to control bass and treble settings on the remote to customize the sound even more. The sub is crazy. Amazing bass from a small enclosed footprint. You are able to control the sub intensity as well. I love that you have options to control bass, treble, and sub levels. I have the bass on the bar set to flat, and the sub a little lower than that and its still enough to feel the sound.Hook up was so simple. Didn’t even have to look at the manual. You have the options for Arc, optical, usb, and aux. This model to me is the most well rounded best looking unit. I know there is a newer model, but the curved edges on the sound bar and the orange tag sticking of of it killed it for me. Bluetooth for the sub works perfect. No cutting out or lag.I would pick this one over any model. Vizio nailed it on this one. I am keeping this forever.

I have always wanted a surround sound set up for my living room but never have pulled the trigger on getting one. This set up is great and at a good price. My fiance loves it when watching movies because it definitely adds a more immersive experience. Would recommend to anyone looking for a surround sound system. Very easy to set up with my LG tv.

We wanted a 5.1 surround sound system without the big name expense. I have yet to be unhappy with Vizio products and this V-Series 5.1 Home Theater Sound Bar with Dolby Audio, (this is not the DTS unit) is no exception. It comes with wall mounting hardware for studs or sheetrock. The EQ settings on this are simple to use and adjust. It is louder (decibel wise) than our other Vizio 2.1 and sounds even better. Perfect amount of bass and volume for a 250sq ft room. If you really want it to, the bass can “boom” but it all depends on your ear and what you like. My wife and I like to feel the bass and enhance the sound experience but I don’t want my “trunk” rattling, though this can do just that if you want it to. Treble and Mids are also great, not tinny, not muffled. It is very sound forward and one of my favorite features……Speaker volume adjustment! Setting the Center Speaker volume up and Dialog Boost volume up means you can actually hear what is being said without having to turn on captions because of the ridiculously loud music that always seems to overwhelm movies. You will have to play with the adjustments, it doesn’t just come out of the box sounding perfect (although it does sound great out of the box). So just remember to be patient, I know that is hard sometimes but trust me, it is absolutely worth it. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS…can’t stress that enough….you know who I’m talking to.My parents have a Sonos system that was over $1600 and I really don’t notice a difference, other than the cost. Maybe it’s worth it some how…because some people think more money means better product “Ohhh Shiny” (sometimes that is true, not this case) but if you want to save money and still have a really versatile 5.1 system that is GREAT for movies AND music, give this Vizio 5.1 system a try and see for yourself and before you think it, no I am not being paid nor was I given this thing, I just think it is really that good.Just to give some added proof, I have been a guitarist for 27 years. I’ve had several cheap and high end amps, I have been around what is considered High quality sound systems ($100,000+) in recording studios. That isn’t to say I know more than you, but sometimes it is nice to know that someone who has experiences that you may not have had, can help you with making the best decision for your lifestyle and budget. I really enjoy helping people and I honestly do think if you buy this and take the time to set it up the way it works best for your listening experience, you really will be happy and save money and family and friends that come over will probably be asking “What brand?” and “How much was it???!”. That has happened to me and my wife already…Good luck, happy listening and be happy! You deserve it!

The Vizio 5.1 Soround Sound System V51 XJ6 version will light up your room with sound just like in the Theater just not as powerful. I connected a six year old 60 inch Vizio TV with HDMI ARC to the sound bar. The satellite speakers are positioned behind the sofa pointing 45 degrees towards the soundbar at ear level. I used the Sanus Adjustable Height Speaker stands for optimal placement. The subwoofer was placed near the wall side of the sofa. When everything was connected the Vizio soundbar detected the Vizio TV automatically and acknowledged the ARC HDMI port. The Direct TV, Vizio TV and Vizio Remote all can control the volume levels. I have the Subwoofer at 5/10 sound level and the satellite speakers at level 8/10. Note the satellite speakers are for sound effects not dialogue. Some reviewers stated the satellite speakers are useless. I would disagree with that statement. Speaker placement is important. The sound field is just incredible on the Vizio 51 Vxj. It sounds like a movie theater. The bass is sufficient coming from such a small subwoofer. Watch some 4K movie trailers to tweak the system. I could not have been more pleased with this unit. Also Vizio upgraded the remote with a blue backlight so you can see the settings in the dark. Older remotes had grayscale and you could barely see the settings in the daytime. Overall, the Vizio is a stellar system on a budget. I like Movie mode the best with Virtual X enabled and Dolby Digital selected in the TV audio settings. I give it 5 Stars out of Five.

I don’t know if my TV’s speakers were failing or if everything I watch has terrible audio quality, but it was getting impossible to understand. Turning up the TV volume just made it louder, not clearer. This sound bar has made a HUGE difference in being able to understand dialog. The audio quality is great and its volume level are just what I need for my TV needs. Some people said the remote was confusing, but I had no issues. You just need to read what’s on the screen before clicking a bunch of other buttons. It connected to my TV right away and I haven’t had any connection issues and it’s been simple to use.

This thing is great! Exactly what we wanted! Music is bumpin, the movies are rumbling and the direct is perfect sound all the way around…. Almost got in trouble for buying it and putting the 2 little holes in the wall, then it was heard. Not in trouble 😉

Look, if you are setting up your dream movie room, spend the big money and get a sound bar of your dreams. I will say, for the money, this sound bar is awesome. I use it in a large garage, to accompany my TCL 65 inch t.v. and even the sound in a terribly bad acoustical area like this, is good. I have a $1000 sound bar, with subwoofer that would rattle the fillings in your mouth, with superior sound, but it was $1000. This unit with subwoofer will not do that, but also my $1000 unit is used in small bedroom, so the acoustics are better in there. I’m sure if you are using this unit in a smaller space, than a garage with better acoustics, it will sound better than the results that I am getting in my garage. Have no fear, in purchasing this unit, if your budget is around $200. For a $200 unit, I give it 5 stars!!!
