I am really enjoying this mouse. Is it my favorite mouse? Hard to say, I have different mice for different things. I have a Naga Pro for MOBAs and MMOs, a Deathadder v2 Pro for FPS, and an Orochi for my gaming laptop. I also have a drawer full of other mice that I enjoy using from time to time like the Roccat Burst Pro that was my daily driver for nearly a year.So where does this mouse fit in? To me, this is the best all-rounder. The hyperscroll is great for getting through long webpages or spreadsheets. Combined with its comfortable ergonomic shape, and low noise and pleasant feel, it is excellent as an office mouse. However, it is great for FPS games as well. The main buttons feel nice to click. The side buttons are easy to find and press. And I have even found myself using the clutch every now and then when sniping. And I have come to appreciate the thumb rest. No more accidently dragging the edge of my thumb on the mousepad. The features do add some extra weight, however. This in turn makes it slightly less desirable than my Deathadder for shooters. But really not by much. I only notice the weight difference if I am quickly switching between them. In use though, I do just as well with the Basilisk as I do with the Deathadder. Both are comfy for long game sessions. with excellent ergonomics and good buttons. I do enjoy the scroll wheel on the Basilisk more than the Deathadder.I could probably press the Basilisk into service for a MOBA. However, I have grown accustomed to the Naga’s six button side panel. Since I have the option, I would probably be included to use that LoL or HotS (not that I play either much anymore). For MMOs there is nothing that can replace my Naga with the 12 button side panel. The Basilisk just cannot compete, and that’s ok. MMO mice a very specialized thing. If you are at the point where you need 24+ keybinds on your mouse, you probably already have this covered. But, if you need just one mouse in your life, I think the Basilisk is an excellent choice. Even if you are shopping office mice, give this one a look. The Smart-Reel Hyperscroll is a thing of beauty for the office once you get used to it. And when you are gaming, the sensitivity clutch can be really handy. Also, the lighting looks pretty cool and it’s easy to work with. Aesthetics are important too 😀

Was torn between this and the Logitech G502. Both are very similar in shape and offer impressive features, but due to known issues later down the road with clicking on the G502, the Basilisk V3 was a more appealing option due to it having optical switches that are reliable in terms of longevity. Tons of customizable RGB options in the synapse app on Windows and this mouse also works well with openrazer drivers & the polychromatic app on Linux. Though not a very big mouse, it feels comfortable in hand and you will find it suitable for your needs no matter your grip style. The thumb rest has a rubber texture which is the same as what is featured on the sides of other Razer brand mice. I haven’t found much of a need for the “dedicated sniper button” but it does work as intended by temporarily lowering dpi when pressed in. All in all, a great purchase for the price point.TLDR: Similar to G502, without long-term clicking issues, ergonomic & fully customizable.

These are great for every day use. To be honest most of the features like “RGB” and mapping functions to the extra buttons I completely skip over. I’m sure they’re useful for playing computer games where there’s very specific time pressure. For the stuff I use them for, writing documents, a bit of design work, a bit of circuit design, a bit of software dev, basically anything other than playing computer games, they’re great. The sensor is really sensetive so they work really well for very precise design work. The way the mouse wheel works on these is genius. They’ve added a buttom that lets one set the wheel between “free wheeling” and ” tightl;y controlled” with a single press. If you’re working on long documents, large diagrams, long web pages it’s just a click and you can move up and down the length of the page very quickly. Then just press the button again and you have precise control and you can slowly move from line to line and get to exactly where you need to be. Navigation with any other mouse now feels slow and sluggish to me.The little couloured lights are also useful, I have a few of these on the desk at once and setting them to different static colurs makes it easy to quickly identify which mouse is attached to which computer. The quality is good, I’ve had one of these Basilisk v3’s for about two years and no sign of any problems. I’ve had another Razer mouse for about eight years and while there are definite signs of wear it’s to be expectted with a device that gets used all day every day. That one still functions perfectly even though there are tiny cracks where the plastic has become brittle and the pads underneath are all but worn off. By comparison I bought a different high quality gaming mouse manufatured by a competitor in the same segment and with that one the gears on the mouse wheel wore enough to lose friction with the spindle to the point where the mouse wheel was really frustrating to try to use within six months, so eight years I’d say is good value for money.

Excellent mouse. Feels fantastic in my large hand. Plastic is solid and not cheap, DPS is fantastic going up to 64k DPI. Buttons and weight feel perfect for a well balanced gaming session or work load. Love the color and the performance can be customized with the Razor Sunapse software.

I love this mouse, but it doesn’t work about 30% of the time when PC first boots. I have to unplug and replug to get it to work.

I am an avid gamer. I was going through mice at a rate of 2-4 per year for probably 10 plus years. I would get one and either the right or left button would start breaking down in a matter of months. Eventually I would have to replace it. This cost me probably $39.99 plus tax per mouse minimum, sometimes more. So say $150 or more per year. A few years ago I read a review somewhere of the RAZER BASILISK version 2, which was an ALL OPTICAL SWITCH mouse. This means there are no mechanical switches (metal making contact with metal), just a light beam being interrupted. There is nothing to wear out. I ordered one and to be honest I loved it for a year. Then something happened. I saw a video on the differences between the multiple versions of the Basilisk. I then realized that the mouse I’d received did not look like the v2 in the video. I checked. I couldn’t believe it. I’d ordered the v2, but they’d sent me the v1 with MECHANICAL switches. It was too late to return it. Not that I was complaining, I’d had it for a year and it was still working. But the mouse I was using for my laptop was giving me problems so I decided to order the v3 for my desktop and to transfer the v1 to my laptop. It’s still there. I have been using the v3 on my desktop now for a year and a half. This November it will be 2 years. I have NEVER used a mouse this long. So the v3 gets top honors from me. As an aside a few months ago I was watching a Youtuber play Kerbal Space Program and he was complaining about his mouse and saying he’d need to get a new one before he made another vid. I messaged him and told him about the Basilisk line. The following Saturday he posted another video and mentioned that he’d gotten a new mouse. I messaged him again and asked if he’d looked at the Basilisk line? He told me that not only had he taken my suggestion to heart but he looked into it and went out to his local store to specifically buy the Basilisk V3. And that’s what he did. Great mouse. I’m sure it won’t last forever, but it’s working magnificently and when it does go, I’ll replace it with another optical switch mouse, possibly a Basilisk or whatever other line RAZER is offering at that point. But make sure that when you order a mouse that you GET THE MOUSE YOU ORDERED!!!!

This will be a biased review because I’ve had different iterations of this particular mouse for YEARS and I love it. This one is the WIRED VERSION. I’ve purchased many other types and brands of mice over the years (Logitech, Corsair, Glorious) and none of them have been able to replace my good ol’ Basilisk. It’s all about personal preference and I just happened to choose the Basilisk because of the style of mouse it is. I really prefer the kind of mouse with the “thumb extension” (or whatever it’s called) that allows you to rest your thumb on the extended piece that sticks out so your thumb isn’t dragging on the mouse pad. Every time I try a different mouse I always come back to the comfort of the Basilisk. This is NOT a lightweight mouse but it’s not as heavy as some like the Logitech 502 Hero which has weights you can add to it. I have used that one previously and that’s how I came across this mouse and have loved it ever since. Also the size of the mouse falls somewhere in the middle. I’ve had bigger ones that I did not like so this one is not small by any means but it’s definitely not on the big side either. So if you’re looking for an alternative to the Logitech or this style of mouse try this one out.

I initially bought this mouse thinking it was a good compromise between quality and price. The mouse I had for my laptop died and I needed something but have had bad experiences with mice over $120 dying on me within a few months of warranty expiring.I use my laptop a lot less often than I do my desktop, however, every time I do I am reminded how much more comfortable the mouse feels in my hand.In every way I want a mouse to perform this mouse does, it travels the screen with less than a flick of my wrist because I like the sensitivity set very high. Because of its comfort it feels like it might actually be more precise than my desktop mouse.I have booked marked the page and will go back and purchase this mouse to replace my desktop mouse when it dies or sooner.I mention my hands are large because the comfort of this mouse my not translate to smaller hands, I obviously have no way of checking this as I live alone. Hands are not measured the way feet are, so large is very subjective. My running shoe size is a 14 US and I would say my hands are proportional. If you do not need a wireless connected mouse, the price and quality alone make this a very good deal. The light settings are not important to me, but setting them to softer tones does make the mouse easy to locate in a dark room without being distracting.
