I have been using the Frigidaire FFRA051WAE air conditioner for a few weeks now. So far I would say it is a good air conditioner at a great price. It is much smaller and lighter than my previous air conditioner but still very powerful. This specific model weighs 40lbs.I use this AC unit to cool a small bedroom and the 5000 BTUs is plenty. My room gets extremely cold in an hour running on the High Cool 7 setting.Helpful tip – if you want your room to stay cold at night and the overnight temperature is going to dip into the 50s, run the AC for 1-2 hours on the High Cool setting before the temperature drops below 60 degrees, then shut it off for the night. If you install some cheap insulation foam on your windows and doors your room will stay cool much longer.Never run a window AC when the temperature outside is below 60 degrees because it can freeze up the unit. I ran my previous air conditioner everyday in the summer and never knew why it kept shutting off on its own on cold nights. I thought there was a short in it. There must have been an internal chip failsafe that kept my old air conditioner from destroying itself… this is why it still works to this day. This Frigidaire air conditioner was relatively easy to install right out of the box and fit securely in my window. The only tool I needed was a philips screwdriver. A handy person could probably install this AC unit by themself in about 10 minutes. Two notable mentions from the installation manual… the 5/16″ pitch is built in to the design of the AC unit so no need to worry about doing it yourself. Pitch is the backward tilt which causes water to exit the back of the machine and drain to the outside. In step 1 on page 2 they mention placing the unit on the floor to install the side panels but what they don’t specify is that you must place the unit on its back to do so. To get the accordion panels in place lay the air conditioner on its back with buttons face up and slide each panel through the 4 holes on each side. You’ll know when you’ve done it correctly.I almost didn’t buy this air conditioner due to the negative reviews about it not cooling and/or breaking right away. Am starting to think that people give too much weight to negative product reviews these days. Electronics are generally tested before sale and rarely fail right out of the box. Paying extra on an extended warranty is betting on your electronic to fail which is almost always a losing venture. It’s also worth noting that most people never leave positive reviews on any items they buy, they only leave a review if something is wrong with it. This behavior highly skews product reviews in a negative way.My main complaint regarding this Frigidaire air conditioner is that there is no built in timer. But that would likely have raised the price closer to $300. My old air conditioner had a timer but was very heavy and much harder to install. There are timers online you can buy that should work with air conditioners. But as mentioned previously if you insulate your room properly you can probably get by running this AC unit for just an hour or two most nights. My only other complaint is a minor one. I leave my air conditioner plugged in and turn the unit on and off on a daily basis. I would much rather have push buttons on an air conditioner than a knob that you turn that could eventually break off.Final note: When I first got this Frigidaire air conditioner it did not produce super cold air immediately right out of the box. I believe it took a few hours. This is something to keep in mind. Just because an air conditioner doesn’t get super cold instantly doesn’t mean it’s broken.

We only have window units at our home. We had a Frigidaire from the late 2000’s that came with our house. It was the smallest, lightest unit that we had, and it worked better than all others. When that unit finally developed a front leak, it was time for a replacement.I ordered this one with digital controls, and I am extremely satisfied. First: the unit is very light and compact, which is great for easy installation in any style of window. When I turned it on, it quickly began cooling, and had a very quiet compressor. I’m able to customize the cooling level using controls on the unit, or on the included remote. Before I leave, I set the temp higher and run it on eco. It will automatically turn off and on as cooling is needed, saving a lot of energy. The only weird thing with this unit is the lack of a drain hole at the bottom, which is an option I like on my window units, as the sound of pinging water in the pan is slightly annoying. However, even with a pan full of water after running in humid temps, the sound is very subtle. The unit does spray its condensate out of the top of the unit like a sprinkler as the fan hits the water, which is interesting.I am considering buying more of these to replace all of our older units.

This is a great choice to cool down a bedroom or small living space. For many nights, I had to sleep in temperatures 73° and above, with it sometimes getting into the 80s. I couldn’t tolerate it anymore, so after installing this unit in my window, it works like a charm. After about 30 minutes of running, my ≈125 sqr foot room can drop about 6-7°, leaving it around 66°. Very nice, but I avoid running it at night as it can disturb sleep with it’s loud operating noise, but most air conditioners have noise problems, so I can’t get mad. Also, the side panels do have a couple small cracks and crevices that bugs and insects can potentially get through, but they are very small. Overall, this is a great unit.

This is a good solid AC unit. Plenty of pep. Easy to install, albeit it was a bit heavy. Unfortunately, even though it was packed nicely there was a dent in a non functional area. Not worth sending back. Just something to consider buying from Amazon vs a store. It’s not the quietest ac I’ve owned, but it pours cold air!

This air conditioner works very well. It’s quite a bit quieter than the off-brand ones, and I can compare as I have several of them. It cools great and holds its setpoint. Overall, I’m very satisfied with this air conditioner.

My order came in earlier than expected very happy for that. This ac works great. It was easy to install. Did not take long to cool at all. This ac was a perfect size to cool my room n my kids room. The fan blows great 👍

The heat & air pump went out on us and we just don’t have the money to replace it now. I have been basically living out of my bedroom due to pet damage/filth concerns due to my niece moving in with her 4 cats that she refuses to clean up after. I am planning on getting a new home as soon as possible but we all know how hard that is to do in today’s economy. I have been suffering through several summers now where it has been so hot in my bedroom that the sweat was just rolling off of me and me shirtless with a fan blowing directly on me. This window unit has been a Godsend to me. There was no way I was going to suffer through another summer having to deal with daily 90+ degree temps in my bedroom. I had this unit installed in a little over an hour and it wouldn’t have taken that long but I cleaned the windows real good while I was at it. I guess it was close to 90 degrees in my room when I installed the ac unit so I set the thermostat on 68 degrees and within an hour my room was actually freezing cold, lol….now that I have my bedroom temp. under control I normally keep the ac thermostat set between 72-75 degrees. Most times I leave it on 74 and I am now always comfortable. I can now sit at my desk and actually get important things done. Before, when it was so hot in here, I just couldn’t focus on anything. It was just too hot to really deal with anything. I am extremely satisfied with this unit and I have been using it for several days now. I got the electronic control version instead of the simple knobs. I know it is about $30 more but it is well worth it. I can now set the thermostat and forget about the ac unit and get on with my work or even game play on my pc. This is a great buy. I highly recommend it and anyone who puts out a review claiming that it is too loud obviously has never used a fan. This window unit makes less noise than the pedestal fan I was using. I can barely hear it. I can’t even hear it at all if I am watching a video. I got the new 2025 version so I can’t say anything about the older units. I imagine they are all pretty much made the same but I wanted a new product. So many times when you buy something online it will say “NEW” and that is partly true because it has never been used but a lot of times you are buying old stock that has been sitting on the shelf or in the warehouse for years. Always check the manuf. date before you buy anything so you know what you are getting. I have bought things before thinking them to be new items only to find out they were made almost 10 years ago and already outdated, lol Buyers beware of this kind of thing. Nothing against Amazon here. Amazon is always straight up about the manuf. date and where the product was made. I am a big supporter of Amazon and they have always resolved any problems I have ever had which have been very few. This review has nothing to do with any promotion and I don’t get anything if someone buys one of these. I bought this after looking through the options that Amazon had.

I was delighted to find this inexpensive, 5000 BTU unit on Amazon. It’s an exact replacement for my old one, which lasted over 10 years (running pretty much 24/7) in the South Florida heat. The manual (analog) controls mean that this unit resumes cooling after a power outage in an un-attended room. That’s an important feature I was looking for. Many digital units reset after a power glitch and have to be turned back on.The unit is quiet and keeps a 15 X 15 room nice and cool. It removes a lot of humidity from the air as well. Instead of using a drain, it splashes excess water condensation onto the coils to improve the efficiency. This means it never drips outside. Just be sure you mount it level for this recovery function to work well.

I just ordered this last week and I was skeptical but I am AMAZED! I live in a third floor 950 sq ft. apartment with vaulted ceilings. I needed something that would cool down the living room (which is a big open room shared by the kitchen, dining room, and hallway). We have a portable ac in both bedrooms (both at 10,000 BTU) and at one point I tried running both portable ACs in the living room but it would just not cool down during these heat waves (100+ degrees). I was beginning to lose hope that the living room would ever cool down but someone on some blog somewhere said to get a window ac and a very powerful fan to help push the cold air around. So I bought this unit and a very powerful fan but since day one, I have not needed to use the fan. This thing is so powerful at cooling. It cools down the entire room (with vaulted ceilings) in less than 8 minutes. It was easy to install as well. The blue tape is just because I was sealing off the panels because I didn’t want to screw into the vinyl since I’m renting. I put a chair under the back side to support the outside part of the unit. 12/10 would recommend. I hope it lasts a long time but I will update this review if it doesn’t.

My bedroom room, bathroom and TV room are on the top floor of an old, late teens early twenties home, that is like an attic in the summer and difficult to cool. I was looking to replace a 5000btu air conditioner that needed to be on constantly, all day. That size unit in particular struggles to cool my 14×12 bedroom and takes forever to make it somewhat comfortable if left off. I wanted to purchase 10,000btu unit that I could run on low and maintain my target temperature. I looked at a slew of air conditioners from many different companies and landed on this one in particular, not because of the price, but because of the proven name brand, quality build, customer reviews and Prime 2-day delivery. Price was very important and within $20-$30 of the least expensive but was willing to pay a little more for the reasons I stated above. This unit did not disappoint at all. Very easy to install, good directions and nice remote control. I immediately knew this would work as soon as I turned it on. This unit puts out freezing cold air in seconds and was impressed at the power it put out even on low. Very quiet with no vibrations(very important) and cooled my room from 84° to 68° in ten minutes. This is exactly what I was looking for! If being cool on these nasty oppressive days(in Pa)) is important to you like it is for me, this in the one!Above and beyond expectations.
