WiFi 6Onboard WiFi 6E technology takes advantage of the newly available radio spectrum in the 6 GHz band. It delivers ultrafast wireless networking speeds and improved capacity, as well as better performance in dense wireless environments.* |
SafeSlot & SafeDIMMSafeSlot is a reinforced metal sheath added to a PCIe slot to keep a card firmly installed. Because PCIe 5.0 is two times faster than PCIe 4.0, ASUS enhanced SMT manufacturing processes for the faster SafeSlot―all to ensure users get the highest-possible data speeds. In addition, the ASUS SafeDIMM sheath is added to support and protect memory modules on select ASUS motherboards, empowering you to insert modules with speed, accuracy and confidence. |
PCIe Q-ReleaseA physical button unlocks the first PCIe slot’s security latch with one tap, greatly simplifying the process of detaching a PCIe card from the motherboard when it’s time to upgrade to a new GPU or other compatible device. |

Good mother board and easy to install. Instruction and locations of each attachment location could be better. Also on first boot up, my monitor did not auto pickup HDMI, so it seemed like I had no video. After you save the setup screen works great there after.

I paired this MB with the Intel I9 14900KF, 2 Corsair 32mb RAM, WD Black 2TB M2 and it worked perfect. No complaints other than Windows 11 not loading up the LAN or Wifi drivers during a fresh install. I had to download the NIC and Wi-Fi drivers separately on a 2nd flash drive and load them during the windows 11 install.Downloaded the newest Bios update and installed it, I’ve been running this MB/Intel I9 combo for 2 weeks and have seen 0 stability issues.Overall, I am very pleased with MB/build. Very smooth install/build.

A few key notes for those who are upgrading from older motherboards:1. Before you begin, if you are running windows, make sure to go to Activation Settings and sign in using a Microsoft account at least once. It should say “Windows is activated with a digital license”. This will ensure that you will be able to activate your windows again after motherboard change.2. Update motherboard firmware to latest using a flash drive. ASUS official site has the instructions.3. The motherboard will not detect your boot drive if it is partitioned via MBR. To solve this, change the bios settings to CSM and disable VBM settings. It should boot up now.4. After Windows is able to boot, you can run mbr2gpt to convert from MBR to GPT, and then disable CSM to allow for Windows 11 to be compatible. There are some good Youtube videos on this.Personally, I got stuck at step 2 for a while, due to my old SATA cables being bad, and I couldn’t detect my drive with every setting, until I replaced my cables.

This not only enhances gaming experiences but also boosts overall productivity tasks, making it a versatile choice for any PC build. The ASUS TUF Gaming Z790 motherboard lives up to its reputation as a reliable and high-performing option for gamers and professionals alike. With its easy installation, intuitive BIOS interface, and AI enhancements, it’s a solid choice for anyone looking to elevate their PC experience.*Note*For those who are having issues with internet connectivity with WiFi or LAN, you have to update the drivers to install the WiFi capabilities. If you are installing Windows 10+, you have to skip connecting to the internet. Download the driver files (from the product website) to a USB drive and then install them on the device you have the motherboard installed in. It’s a tedious process, but works.

Though this board appears to be for gaming, I got it for a new HTPC and for creating and editing videos. As a full ATX board, it has lots of expandability such as M.2 and other PCI slots and SATA ports. With a new Intel processor, G. Skill ram and WD NVMe SSDs, it booted right up and works as expected.

Admittedly I am an Asus fanboy. I have used other MB in the past but I keep going back to Asus as I have not had issue with any of the Asus MB I have used. This one was a breeze to install, plenty of extra parts for my needs and has been rock solid while gaming at 4k. This board had everything I needed without all the fluff at a reasonable price. With all that positive being said, Asus Armory Crate is bloatware at it finest and I would avoid installing it at all costs.
