This is my first dedicated gaming laptop. Those who know will tell you that trying to play games on a standard laptop can be a trying experience – they’re just not not powerful or fast enough to handle good games. This is certainly good enough. It was easy to set up, the keyboard has a nice feel and sound to it. It has USB, Type C and HDMI ports for outputs, and it’s certainly fast. I’ll use this for both normal and gaming uses. For normal uses it’s impressively fast! But that’s kinda like saying a Ferrari is awesome to go shopping in lol. For gaming, although I’m not expert at it, I fired up resident Evil Village, which I know from having seen it on a friend’s less powerful laptop is very graphically demanding especially at high settings. This seemed to handle it really well, without much issue. I know new laptops always perform faster/better when new, so it only remains to be seen how it performs over time, but as far as specs are concerned it seems to be well up there for what’s needed to play top tire games like Resident Evil Village, Halo Infinite, etc.

My daughter is the gamer in the family. I ordered this for her. I began to set up the laptop, then after creating new passwords and accounts that were needed, I stopped. I do decently with technology, but gaming and such is just not my thing. So I handed it off to her for a proper review. This is what she had to say:This is very good mid range laptop. The LED keyboard has a quietest satisfying click sound with a numpad on the side as well, So far it has handled most of my games fairly well. I opened Ark to see if it could handle it and it did. While I don’t think ANY laptop could happily run it with the graphics settings set to ultra, this one was able to handle medium on most settings and high on a few. There were only a handful of lag spikes when loading the caves (again, no laptop could load the caves without a hiccup or two) and the boss fights. I was able to play project zomboid co-op with similar results, only chugged when we walked into the mall for the first time. Great starter gaming laptop for the price! Has an HDMI output, two usb, one usb-c, ethernet plug in, and a headset jack. Speakers are decent. Screen is bright and clear. It does get a tad warm when playing bigger games, but that’s to be expected.

This works great, and is a really nice upgrade to my old laptop. The included AMD processor performs super fast, has plenty of cores for modern gaming, and enough power to use for other tasks that you need multiple threads for. The included 16GB of DDR5 is perfect, although I wish they had went with the 6000 speeds instead of the 5200, that’s the sweet spot for performance with AMD.The RTX4060 laptop GPU performs great (not as good as a desktop 4060, but still much better than built in). Speaking of built in graphics, the AMD Radeon built in graphics do great for standard extended monitor support and give a low power option to run while on the go instead of the battery draining Nvidia GPU.Battery life depends on how you have things set up. If you do casual gaming while on the go, expect to have to charge it after an hour or 2, standard web surfing will give you about 2 times longer. Full speed gaming I would recommend only while plugged in, you’ll drain your battery fairly quickly due to the GPU. Overall it’s a solid option. Be advised the Thunderbolt connection for multi monitor only uses the AMD Radeon GPU, the HDMI seems to be the only way to connect the NVIDIA GPU to an external monitor, so that means no multi screens using Nvidia through a Thunderbolt Dock. The laptop itself has lots of little special features, and a beautiful vibrant screen. The keyboard has nice backlighting, although I do wish the keys had a bit more mechanical feedback to them.

The media could not be loaded. The GOOD: This is a highly capable machine geared toward gaming so it has a crazy fast processor and an excellent video card. I started this up and launched Prime Video to watch our family’s favorite movies and there was absolutely no loading. It was astonishing after dealing with a legacy Dell and cheap HP that are just not capable (possibly through planned obsolescence). This thing is fast. Videos played great and I launched my favorite game Civilization, which is typically very heavy and slow on this Nitro and it has performed expertly. There is very little delay and it handles the map zooming and panning along with the action extremely well. The BAD: I’m not a fan of the more square-like monitor. Not sure if this is a “gaming” aspect ratio, but it feels a little limiting. The Windows 11 OS also has its issues with the pathetic native Windows apps and their false restrictions (see the notice in the pictures on the Brave Browser alert). Also, they claim a free Xbox game pass but it required credit card—I think it’s a free month maybe. The UGLY: When I first opened it up I wanted to get started right away so I clicked what I thought was the power button but that didn’t work. I thought it might need to be charged, so I plugged it in but there aren’t any lights on the adapter to indicate it was charging. My wife pointed out that there is a light on the right side to indicate charging and charged. But the next day, when I tried it again, it still didn’t work. My wife suggested that I read the instructions and voila, there was a power button on the keyboard. The button I thought was the power button is the “mode” button but I’m not sure what that does really. It doesn’t seem to do anything. All in all, this is a phenomenal machine. It’s not cheap but it performs.
